HP® LaserJet® 1000/1200, 1220 MFP

The HP® LaserJet®1200 printer and 1220 printer/copier/scanner (Multi Function Printer) were introduced in 2001 as replacements for the popular LaserJet 1100/1100a, and included a number of new features at the time of release. For example, instead of loading the cartridge from the top in the HP1100, the toner cartridge installs into the front of the machines, making them more suitable for desktop applications. The fuser comes on instantly and can print the first page in less than 10 seconds., The print speed of 15 pages per minute is almost double that of the HP1100/1100a. Instead of being gear-driven like their previous models, the 1200 and 1220 used a more reliable spline drive. Both support parallel ports and USB and can be connected to two computers at once, have a more powerful processor, and work with Macintosh.

Aimed at small office , home office and single business users, the LaserJet 1200/1220 have no built-in network interface, but can be connected using an optional external JetDirect® 175x network server. A 1200n network-ready version shipped with the JetDirect standard, and both versions could be configured with an optional color scanner for added scanner and copier functionality. The 1220/1220Se models were configured with the color scanner and copier standard.

The improved duty cycle of this range also made them more suited to the small to medium businesses. Capable of printing up to 10 000 pages per month.
